Tollywood superstar Allu Arjun and ex-MLA Shilpa Ravichandra Kishore Reddy approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court, seeking to quash a case filed against them in Nandyal in May this year, during the election period . The case relates to Arjun’s surprise appearance at a rally supporting Ravichandra, which allegedly violated election protocols
The FIR was filed under relevant sections for disobeying an order by a public servant, thereby causing the danger of riot. It also accused Arjun and Shilpa Ravichandra of violating the Election Code and sections of the Andhra Pradesh Police Act by assembling a large crowd at an election event without proper permission.
Accompanied by his wife, Sneha Reddy, Allu Arjun had visited Nandyal on May 11, 2024 during the general elections to show support for Ravichandra. Arjun’s unexpected visit sent fans into a tizzy, drawing a huge crowd.
Both Arjun and Ravichandra filed a quash petition in the High Court to invalidate the FIR registered at Nandyal police station on May 11, 2024.
The ‘Pushpa’ star is seeking protection from arrest in the case. Thus, in addition to the main petition, he submitted an Interlocutory Application requesting the court to stay all further proceedings, including any arrests.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court accepted the plea and is likely to hear the matter tomorrow.
